This and That

First up: We got two more ferrets and a bigger cage! Daisy seemed kinda lonely so we (David) scoured craigslist and found a lady selling two ferrets with their cage for $50. We met up with her and now we have 3! Their names were Roxy and Rudy, but Amber and Jade quickly renamed them Cookie and Cream. Cream (Rudy) is a boy and Cookie (Roxy) is a girl. And they were both bone-thin. Like they'd been starved. It was so sad! I'm happy to say they have both put on a little weight in the week they've been here and are much more playful than they started.

Next: I finished Jade's Halloween costume! Two down, four to go! lol Amber's is actually almost done. Just gotta finish her jacket and make her a quick pair of pants.

Last: Amber and Jade had their first cross country meet this morning. Jade was tripped and stepped on in the beginning, but finished strong - running despite the blood on her knee and hand. She placed 52 out of 107! Amber had a great race! She started in the very back at a slow jog to avoid being trampled then worked her way up to the front on the course. She entered the track for the last stretch and sprinted to pass 4-5 girls before finishing 13 out of 78! Way to go, Amber! =)

This is Amber and Jade's favorite way to chill

California Weekend!

For Labor Day weekend, we were able to go visit Shelley and her family in California! It was such a welcome break from the heat and everyday life! We kept it a surprise from the girls as long as possible and they didn't truly know where we were headed until we pulled into Shelley's driveway at 10:00 at night (we couldn't leave until David was done with work). The kids had a lot of fun playing together Saturday morning:

When everyone was up, dressed, and fed, we headed out the door to SEAWORLD!!! So. Much. FUN!!! We stayed the whole day, went to almost all the shows, Amber, Jade, and I rode the new Manta coaster, Shelley took the big girls on the Arctic simulator, and no matter where we sat in the stadiums - it was always in the wrong place and missed getting splashed all day long! Booo! Oh, and of course I fried. lol

Sunday was beach day. Shelley and Greg took us to the beach on base - the big girls had fun splashing in the ice cold waves, Paisley enjoyed (literally) rolling in the sand, and Shyla kept herself entertained with eating goldfish off of David. hahaha

We had so much fun! Thanks for letting us stay with you, Shell Bell! Love you! =)

Sewing

It's that time of year again - the time I start sewing like crazy for Halloween, then fall clothes for my girls, Christmas, birthdays, etc. Yeah.....I guess it doesn't ever really end here. That's what I get for having 4 girls! lol Anyways, I sold my first costume of the Halloween season last week, finished it today and got it sent off to it's new owner. Isn't it cute??

Also, I've been working on our costumes. Trying to get them done early so I don't have a crazy mad rush to finish on the big day! This year we're doing Alice in Wonderland. Paisley is Alice, Amber is the Mad Hatter, Jade's the White Rabbit, Shyla's the caterpillar, I'm the Queen of Hearts, and David is my Knave. So far, I'm done with Paisley's, I made Jade's dress, and I've cut out Amber's jacket. I have the fabric for mine, and idea for Shyla's, and David rejected both my ideas for his. I'm trying to make as many of the girls' costume pieces "real" clothes so they can be worn more than just for Halloween costumes. Paisley's is dress-up clothes of course, Jade's dress can be for church, and hers and Amber's jackets are real nice corduroy and dupioni silk-lined jackets. Here's what I've done so far:

Waiting.....

And waiting...... And waiting...... And waiting some more.......
That's all we've been doing since May when we found our perfect home and put an offer on it. We STILL haven't heard back from the bank though we've been assured approve is "right around the corner" several times. From both our realtor and the listing agent. I'm so tired of waiting. I'm not super patient to begin with and this is our home we're talking about! I just want to move and get decorating already! I'm upset Amber and Jade had to start school at their old school instead of at their new school. I'm upset that every weekend I have to spend $50+ for more pool chemicals cause the darn thing keeps turning green. I'm upset because our power bill is $450 because apparently no one believed in double-pane windows and insulation in the early 80's (and it's STILL 87 in my kitchen without cooking anything!). I'm tired of being told "any day now". I just want that day to be today. Or yesterday. Or a month ago! lol I'm tired of waiting.

Playing With My Girls

I love watching my girls play. Either with each other or with friends. This past Wednesday I volunteered to watch my friend's 5 kids while they moved. I'm so glad they came over! My girls have so much fun with them and there was virtually no fighting. We sure will miss them!

Random pic of Paisley modeling her newest dress

And I'm throwing this on in, too. LOVE how this baby girl sleeps! She cracks me up! =)

Happy Birthday, Dear David!

Around here, we celebrate birthdays in groups of 2 - Shyla and Amber are a month apart, then Jade and I are a week apart, and Paisley and David are two weeks apart. David was lucky this year and got to celebrate his birthday twice! Probably cause he's so old.... haha Actually, three times. The first time was a week early when he bought an iPad. Which he refused to let me take a "normal" picture of.

On his actual birthday, I made him one of his favorite breakfasts - eggs over medium and toast with chocolate milk.

Also on his actual birthday, Jami offered to babysit the girls so we could go out. We took her up on her offer, dropped the girls off at her house, opened her birthday card which had $$ in it, then had Pete's Fish & Chips before going to see The Bourne Legacy.

I finally got around to making his "birthday" dinner on Thursday. He had requested chicken parmesan and corn-on-the-cob with chocolate fondue for dessert.

My Mom and Kevin sent him $30 in amazon.com cash which he used to preorder the Hunger Games and the Avengers. =)

Happy Birthday, David! I sure love you!
