Paisley

Paisley is at such a funny age right now. She's sassy, but not usually mean about it. We hear a lot of things like, "Maybe you can do it yourself." And "Maybe I already gave you a kiss." I'm not sure where she picked up the "maybe", but she uses it a lot. It cracks us up. Paisley's also getting easier to negotiate with. She understands making deals. Her My favorite one right now is that whenever she wants a new (free) game on the iPad, I tell her to clean a room up first. She's so eager to get it done and actually does a pretty good job. She's also very good about helping Shyla do things. Just this morning she brushed Shyla's teeth - using her toothbrush right after brushing her own. lol But Shyla loved it! And last week at Joann's, she really really wanted some dinosaur fabric for new pajamas. And then told me Shyla wanted "matches". =) Paisley is such a sweet, silly little girl and we all just love her!

After she cleaned her room. Pretty good for a 3yr old!

Her new dinosaur jammies!

First visit to the dentist. Everyone complimented her skirt and she showed everyone her new My Little Pony panties....

Such A Beautiful Day!

This morning was irrigation day! The girls had so much fun splashing in the cool water and the weather couldn't be any nicer! Shyla apparently fell waist deep into a mud hole (from the fence posts - the dirt hasn't been packed down very well....) while still in her clothes so Amber just stripped her naked. She's such a cute little naked baby! =)

It really was such nice weather that David decided to wash his truck. Amber was the only one unwilling to help. Even Shyla pitched in! Since they were in the front yard, I thought it'd be best to strap a diaper on her - no matter how temporary!

Old Tucson

David is very good at making spontaneous plans - which kinda sounds like an oxymoron - but he is. This past week he was in Tucson for some leadership training thingy and when he came back Friday afternoon, we decided to go to the drive-in and see Oz. Saturday morning, while laying in bed and talking about what we should do, he suggested we go to Old Tucson. I mildly resisted knowing how long of a drive it would be and the little girls would miss their naps and it's probably pretty expensive and blah blah blah - but ended up going along with it. After getting the girls dressed and eating breakfast, we headed south. Side note - why am I the only one without cowboy-ish boots?? Who knows. Anyways, the drive was fine (thank goodness for dvd players!) until we left the freeway in Tucson and had to drive through the bumpy mountain. Shyla is very sensitive to motion and doesn't even like elevators. She HATED the last 5 miles or so! We got to Old Tucson at lunchtime so wandered around for a bit till we found a place to eat. I was right about it being expensive.... Oh well. I guess that's why David has such a great job! We watched a gunfight show, panned for gold, then went to find out about trail rides. They usually only take people 8+ and no doubles, but they let Paisley go with Amber, Jade, and David for free. Sooo nice of them! She was so happy and giggly the whole ride (so I'm told) and the cowboy who took them  told me she is just precious! We got some ice cream to cool down a little then went to a trick rope and bullwhip show. The roper was pretty funny and when he got his whip out, he called out Amber to "volunteer". It's pretty funny he chose our shyest family member, but she went up and did what she was asked to do. She and another kid held up a newspaper between them for the cowboy to whip in half. He did it over and over till the paper was quite small. Amber was nervous and kept peeking back at him (he told them to face away from him so they wouldn't startle and flinch) and he had to keep turning her head away, commenting on how her face was making him nervous - which only made her more so! lol Despite the dust and no naps, we all had a great time. And it's a good thing we didn't wait any later in the year as it's getting warmer everyday!

When Shelley (And Kids) Came To Play

Early this week, we had the pleasure of Shelley's (and kids') company! The kids all had so much fun playing together. I'm so sad they are moving to Japan in less than 2 months! But, at least we'll be able to see them one more time before they go. Shelley got a cool new camera for her bday and let me try it out. She also took some great pics of the kiddos! =)

In age order - Amber (11), Jade (9), Celeste (6), Paisley (3), Caleb (2), Shyla (1)

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny bit the dust this year at our house. Since before Amber was born I wanted to save Easter to celebrate Christ. I'm fine with Christmas being commercial, but really fell like Easter should be more religious. This year, I finally killed the Easter Bunny. Told the girls there was no such thing. Amber laughed (she already knew and was picturing me stabbing the bunny....), Jade cried, and Paisley looked at me with horror and said, "But.... WHYYY???" lol The girls still got some candy and pretty dresses, but no egg hunt. Next year I want to do a passover dinner Friday night.
