Happy Birthday, Amber!

Tuesday, January 29, 2002

My sweet girl turns 7 tomorrow. I can hardly believe how fast she grew from just a tiny baby to a big 7 yr old. I'm sure every parent in the world feels exactly the same way. Amber has learned to do so many things on her own. She weaned herself from her pacifier and from me to a bottle, then to a sippycup. She potty trained herself, taught herself how to get dressed and tie her own shoes. And she learns so much every day. It seems everytime I talk to her she has new ideas and theories on how the world works. Some of them are dead-on and I ask her who told her these things. Her answer is usually the same: "My brain tells me, Mom." Here's some pictures through the years. What good memories! I'm so glad I have so many pictures of my sweet Amber-Girl! I love you, Baby!

2008
I know I'm missing pictures from 2006. Early 2007, my computer died and I was unable to recover that years pictures. For some reason, I had all the previous years saved on CD, but not 2006. =(

I'm So Watched Over

On my way home from work today, I was flying down I-10 at 80mph when the front passenger tire literally blew up! No joke! And I was passing a huge semi at the moment and talking to Tai on my cell. Luckily, I pulled off the road okay, but at that place on the freeway, the shoulder is very narrow and there's a gulley full of broken bottles and cacti between the freeway sides. So I'm there, call David to tell him what happened and where I was. He took the girls to the neighbors house and said he was on his way. While I was waiting for him, a truck pulled over and 2 big Mexican men get out. I'm always a bit afraid when men pull over to help me (it's happened at least 3 or 4 times now) since I'm alone and probably wouldn't be able to put up much of a fight. But, they very kindly asked if I had a spare and a jack, which I did, and they proceeded to change my tire for me. Which was scary since they almost got hit by oncoming traffic several times. They finished before David got there, put the ruined tire in the trunk along with my tools, said bye, and drove off. I'm so very thankful for nice people who stop to help without being asked. I've been watched over so carefully through the years.

Fun Times

Finally took some pictures this year. The first 3 in my new 2009 pictures folder. Hooray!
Last night around 7, our neighbors came over asking to borrow a paintbrush and some foil. I didn't think anything of it till the mom came over to return the foil and asked if Amber finished her project already cause they were still working on her son's. Well, I honestly had no clue what she was talking about so she explained that the 1st graders were suppossed to build models of our solar system and that it's due tomorrow (today now). Ha. Thanks for the inform, Amber. I found the paper burried under a stack of other papers on my desk and sure enough, there's a project due today. It had to include all 9 planets plus the sun. They had to be true to scale, color, and distance from the sun. Ummm...again...thanks for the inform, Amber! So luckily David is really smart and creative under pressure and came up with a pretty good idea. We measured and cut out circles on construction paper, Amber and I colored them front and back, Amber labeled them all, and then I hung them in a box that David made. Not bad for 2 1/2 hours of work - huh?

Our other pictures worthy news of the year is that Amber got a new dog for her birthday. Even though she doesn't turn 7 till next Thursday, we went ahead and found a dog for her at the Mesa pound. She's a 1yr old German Shepherd mix (I think with Sharpei and maybe some Terrier or something) and just the sweetest thing ever. David and Jade went to pick her up today while I was at work and Amber was at school. She's pretty skinny, but not food aggressive at all and I haven't heard her bark once. She already knows her name (Katie) and comes with her tail wagging everytime. Sweet little thing! Now as soon as I can get Lobo fixed, he can come inside and be with us, too. I'm mailing in a form to get a voucher for free neutering through the county, so we'll see. Maybe next month?

Funny Story....

So I went to my first doctor's appointment this morning. I was all excited since I thought for sure I'd find out what I'm having. Well...they did a scan, measured baby, and I'm only 9 weeks pregnant. What????? Yeah...9 weeks instead of 18 1/2. Totally sucks. But it really explains why I'm so tired and blah. Anyways, my new due date is August 17th which really sucks since that means I have to deal with a hot Arizona summer while fully pregnant. Bleghh! And I still think I'm having a boy cause the heart rate was a lot slower than the girls' were. Both Amber and Jade sounded like a galloping horse, but this baby's heart rate wasn't that much faster than my own. And statistically speaking...boy's have a slower heart beat than girls do. So I'm going with that. =) Here's a picture of the little (and I mean little) guy in my big fat uterus that has already started to grow due to my body's amazing pregnancy memory. Thanks, body! (I hope you pick up on the sarcasm here....)

The Blah's

I've caught a major case of "The Blah's". I really don't know why I feel so unmotivated to do anything. And I'm talking anything. I don't even want to read or cook or sew. I have so much that needs to be done...I just can't find the energy or will to do any of it. All three bedrooms are complete disasters, the kitchen hasn't been scrubbed clean for awhile, the cat box needs to be scooped, bathrooms needs to be scrubbed, floors needs to be swept/mopped/vaccuumed, and I still haven't finished putting Christmas away. The only thing I've been good at keeping up with is laundry out of necessity. But even that I don't fold and put away. It all gets dumped into the "clean clothes pile" and we all have to dig for what we want to wear. I need to get over this funk.....
